Do you need something to do this summer? Take a look at these 10 great ideas for summer learning. You can try educational games, explore websites that help you learn, go on a field trip, volunteer, or even take an online class!

5. Online Classes and Practice Tests through Learning Express

This site on Utah's Online Library has online classes, reviews, and tests in different subject areas for all ages. These classes are not for credit; they are just for learning!

1) Go to Utah's Online Library
2) Choose K-12 schools--go here for log-in help
3) Choose Learning Express Library on left-hand side of the page
4) As a New User, register to use Learning Express
5) Choose from the list of "Learning Centers" in the middle of the page. The Middle School link under the "School Center" has math skills improvement, reading comprehension skills improvement, writing skills improvement and high school entrance exam preparation. There are also links to online computer skills classes, ACT preparation, helps for writing a resume, etc.

6.Online Classes through Salt Lake County Library System's Research Room

This site, on the SLC Library System website, has online classes and other review information. These classes are not for credit; they are just for learning!
To Access the SLC Library Research Room: salt_lake_county_library.jpg
1) Go to the Salt Lake County Library website.
2) Click on "Research Room."
3) Click on "General Research."
4) Click on "All Resources" in the left-hand menu.
5) Scroll down and click on "Universal Class."
5) Create a log in by registering. (no library card needed, but you do need an email address to register)
6) From the left-hand menu, choose a subject area such as Language Arts, Science, History,Mathematics or Computer Resources, and choose a class.
**Some of these online classes provide written lessons, video recording, discussion room, and exams that are graded for each lesson.

9. Computer Access--If you do not have computer access and need to use a computer during the summer, you can use one for free at a Salt Lake County Library or at a CAT (Computer Access to Technology) Lab. CAT Labs also have free computer classes!
